چکیده

Background The pathophysiology of changes in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) detected after a seizure is not fully understood. Objective To characterize and describe seizure-induced by MRI. Animals Eighty-one client-owned dogs diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy. Methods Data collected retrospectively from medical records included anatomical areas affected, T1-, T2-weighted T2-FLAIR (fluid-attenuated inversion recovery) appearance, whether were unilateral or bilateral, symmetry, contrast enhancement, mass effect, and, gray white matter distribution. Diffusion- perfusion weighted maps evaluated, if available. Results Seizure-induced T2-hyperintense no suppression signal on FLAIR. Lesions T1-isointense (55/81) hypointense (26/81), local effect (23/81) enhancement (12/81). majority bilateral (71/81) symmetrical (69/71). most common affected the hippocampus (39/81) cingulate gyrus (33/81), piriform lobes (32/81). Distribution analysis suggested concurrence between pulvinar thalamic nuclei, parahippocampal gyrus, lobe, gyrus. Diffusion (DWI) characteristics mixed-pattern restricted, facilitated, normal diffusion. Perfusion (PWI) showed either hypoperfusion (6/9) hyperperfusion (3/9). Conclusions Clinical Importance More areas, than previously reported, have been identified that could incur changes. Similar to human literature, DWI PWI reflect underlying metabolic vascular

Neonatal Brain Magnetic Resonance Imaging Findings and Its Relationship with Demographic Characteristics of Neonates

Background and Objective: Neonatal neurological diseases are characterized by a range of clinical symptoms and signs that can be confirmed by Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) in some cases. This study aimed to examine the neonatal cerebral MRI descriptively. Materials and Methods: In this comparative cross-sectional study, 69 MRI neonatal images were analyzed from January to April 2019. These ...

[Structural magnetic resonance imaging in epilepsy].

Magnetic resonance imaging is the main structural imaging in epilepsy. In patients with focal seizures, detection (and characterization) of a structural lesion consistent with electroclinical data allows therapeutic decisions without having to resort to other more expensive or invasive diagnostic procedures. The identification of some lesions may provide prognostic value, as in the case of Mesi...

Magnetic resonance imaging in epilepsy with a fast FLAIR sequence.

OBJECTIVE To assess the diagnostic value of the fast FLAIR sequence in patients with epilepsy. METHODS One hundred and twenty eight patients with epilepsy and 10 control subjects were scanned with the fast FLAIR sequence with 5 mm slices, a coronal gradient echo (GRE) T1 weighted sequence with 1.5 mm slices and spin echo (SE) or fast spin echo (FSE) proton density and T2 weighted sequences wi...
